“Sponsored by RNG”; I love the name. Everyone knows I’m a big hater on random gaming, so this name really struck me as solid. I laughed when I first heard it. Officials are referring to them as just “RNG” so we will go with that for now.
“RNG” is a team that right now consists of;
Champ (Druid), Rensy (Rogue), Bossdawg (Warlock), Kold (Warrior)

This quad recently traveled to Dallas (my town of work) and participated in the MLG tournament at the Hilton Anatole Resort. Things didn’t start well for them. First match they where countered hard, and their luck continued to follow them through out the day. Being counter comped, playing teams that have played for many seasons when these guys have played close to 300 games together made things tough.

Sunday night, 11:45pm I drive out to their hotel to meet them and see how they enjoyed the tournament. They where very excited, and while we steared clear of direct WoW talk to keep our dignity the signs that they haven’t had enough WoW this weekend where painfully obvious at times. Overall we had a really good night, went to Denny’s (and got the worst service ever, but honestly are you suprised?) and then chilled back in the hotel while watching a local stand up comedian on TV.

Team RNG was really cool, I’m glad I got to meet some of my friends and glad they have been given the chance to compete at this level. I myself, and retpaladin.com has faith in them, and that they can be the best. (That’s right Hafu, Champ is coming for you.)

We did discuss something that is a bit more directly relevant to you all. Streaming of RNG’s 3v3 games right here on this website. I will be working with them in the next two weeks to setup streams and we will be discussing their streaming schedule.

So everyone be ready, these guys are about to rock; Brutal Gladiator inc.

Would’ve liked to see something on pallies (given that this is a pally site) but it’s always nice to see some streams

sorry to say slayton but RNG went 1-5… so I dunno what luck you’re talking about

there’s the score board if you don’t believe me.

  3. Ragnor

Bossdawg should play a ret paladin alt/switch up like Glickz does that would be cool.

    Right Bob, if you read my post I explain;

“Things didn’t start well for them. First match they where countered hard, and their luck continued to follow them through out the day.”

I think I followed the scoreboards quite correctly :P

They got sold out pretty hard on bad luck, lack of experience (300 games played together)

This team is pushing brutal gladiator in their BG, if you think they are bad because they lost their first tournament, well, you will be in for a surprise.

As for what this has to do with paladins, not much, however, it has plenty to help this website do more and more, we stream, people watch and enjoy, more people come here, and we get the chance to expand in every way possible.

I’m not saying it’s a bad thing that there are no pallies in RNG. I’d love to see a stream of them regardless. I was just thinking it would’ve been a nice treat to see a pally in action.

  6. Not As Unhappy As You

That’s gonna be pretty freaking cool. Way to organize this Slayton.

  8. Slayton

I don’t see how I’m mad. I was just stating how you misread the post.

I have a dream… I have a dream that one day rogues and druids and retpalis can enter WOW tournerments without racism.

Any new thoughts on blue’s post about nerfing ret?

  11. Exeed

which post is that!? Could you please post it here? I can’t believe blizzard is nerfing ret again, we already suck at 80!

  12. Kisado

it was posted on beta forum later linked by mmo-champ.

    Retribution paladins
I can’t imagine too many people think that DKs (Unholy I presume) and Ret Pallys are balanced. We won’t leave things like that.

Yet all the lvl 80 ret pvp video with resil barely crits for 3k on mages QQ

  13. Exeed

    Link?

  14. Slayton

Well ret paladin burst might be too much, but them nerfing our damage makes room for utility, if they do nerf us.

Honestly don’t worry about it, pvp changes haven’t really hit the table yet and those will slowly come as we play more with the new builds and setups. PvP takes a lot more time to balance

PvE wise, meh, as long as we are kept close to everyone else, good retadins will continue to stand out, and bad ones well, will continue to be excluded from raids. Average players will fit right in, which is the only thing that didn’t happen in BC which should have.

As far as arena tournaments go:

I have little experience in the competitive arenas (1750 being a personal best for me back in season 2 before my partner ditched me for a Resto druid), but things are looking up.

Yes, arenas will still be bloated with problems, but the concept itself is rather sound. Good players can get good gear (even if it has yet to work out this way). However, I was unable to watch, or attend, Blizzcon. The few times I was able to get unto the stream, I saw Europeans competing. I can understand it’s a global game, but something seems wrong when the balance is shifted heavily towards Europe (and possibly China/Korea as well).

Props to “Sponsered by RNG” (despite the spelling) for at least trying.
