UPDATE: Warcraft movies was kind enough to feature our video instantly. Please head over there and show your support! Thank you
Well ok, I’ll say that PvE seal twisting is rather dead… PvP seal twisting on the other hand, is still alive and kicking. It just saddens me that so many of you haven’t explored this, especially you folks running Rogue/Ret/Priest comps or other tunnel comps. (Please don’t take offense to that but, low level arenas that’s basically what you do, disregard for higher ranks)
I’ve always looked at seal twisting as a situational tool, however, it can be very game breaking, especially when seconds and little extra “umph’s” count for everything in arenas and divide the exceptional from the good.
Blizzard has FAILED to fix this for years, and I’ve been using it the same way for that long. It isn’t so much the damage boost, its the fact of being able to potentially stun someone when you are on top of them, adding pressure, or even interruption on longer cast spells, and interrupting things like fear when they are casting in their face is something they deserve.
Here is a copy of my combat log where you can plainly see that I still seal twist.

Ok, but here we go; video time for all those new to our site or didn’t pick it up the first time we really promoted this trick;

I’ll be uploading it to Warcraft Movies as soon as their website stops being retarded and lets me recover my password, so please make sure when i update the link to reflect that that you head over there and show support.

Times have changed a lot between TBC and WotLK – we have now much more “buttons to push”…
Twisting and SoJ in general had become, in my opinion, extremely situational in use. But you’re right it has been forgotten and sometimes I realize post factum that it would maybe (because PPM;-p) interrupt a crucial fear or heal from being cast – I definitely will practice it to reintroduce it to my arsenal:)
Same as swapping to shield/board + SoL – I remember doing it constantly when focused by melee/hunter back in TBC, now I kinda use it once every blue moon. Actually I used it a lot back in S5/S6 when facing a warrior/healer in 2s but with the damage level now it seems often pointless.

Hey Slayton! Long time no see man. Good to see you’re still twistin’!
Making me think about coming back when I return to the states. (To laggy for me to play from where I am on the other side of the planet – going to be here another six months.)
All that Seal Twisting goodness — I still remember your ‘big’ PvP video; from Season 3. God that was some amazing shit. That’s when I started looking past my own server, at other Retribution paladins — until that time, through all of Season 1 and 2 in BC, I had really thought I was one of the only retribution paladins around.
I remember first seeing Seal Twisting in that video. Seriously Slayton — you were, and continue to be a symbol and inspiration to us all. Your unswervingly positive attitude, your aggressive (sometimes even humorously; ‘Oh shit!’ at the last second) play-style, and the fact that you just dive in, even when completely outnumbered reminds me so much of the best things I always loved about World of Warcraft. I haven’t been able to play since Ulduar.. (I have a 5 second ping time from this island I am on in the Indian Ocean) — but seriously..
Whacky things and “creative use of game-mechanics” are pretty much the epitome of what World of Warcraft was -origionally- about. Be it the crazy-fun trinkets (Nifty Stopwatch ftw!), gear-swapping, everyone’s favorite whipper-root tubar, or whatever.. seal-twisting is just another example.
I really, really hope that World of Warcraft finds it’s roots again in Cataclysm. I miss when the game wasn’t all about higher and higher numbers; mirror-imaged gear with different graphics and higher stats on the exact same blue-print–
This? This gives me hope, and as always, Slayton? This is one ret paladin whom says:
I WILL KEEP BELIEVING!

Speaking of which — I can’t find a reliable source to download that video from.. Do you still have a copy of it? (Slayton s3 Final or whatver it was called..) I unfortunately, cannot access Warcraft Movies from this BIOT island, and the filefront isn’t up anymore..

Good to know that it’s still possible. However, 1500 mana is just too much for a 20% chance of soj happening. If you are to seal twist its a lot more reasonable to use glyphed SoC. If you want soj stun switch to the seal and bang on the guy till you have a desired result, its far too costly to twist and fail. Interesting mechanic though.

Although a nice trick still, a long time pally player myself (since patch 1.9), this really isn’t very mana efficient (definitely not with the potential for it not to happen on top of the chance it will) particularly in arenas where you have spent a lot of time when your cleansing (and having those cleanses wasted due to opposing players talents to resist) and all the other utility we have to use to make up for what we don’t have in PvP. And PvE, well you just wouldn’t bother in a raid, there is pretty much zero benefit. But certainly shows you have good timing, I used to twist SoJ and SoC for the double damage myself back in a vanilla in BG’s from time to time.
